Former Half-Term Governor Sarah Palin: There’s nothing different today than there was in the last 43 years of my life since I first started reading. I continue to read all that I can get my hands on — and reading biographies of, yes, Thatcher for instance, and of course Reagan and the John Adams letters, and I’m just thinking of a couple that are on my bedside, I go back to C.S. Lewis for inspiration, there’s such a variety, because books have always been important in my life.
Jonathan Chait: Does anyone find this remotely believeable?
Lemkin: No, I do not, but unlike you and your brethren I don’t have access to ask her a (fucking) follow-up. Howsabout you pry ever-so-gently for a little plot information from “The Screwtape Letters” or for a particularly moving or trenchant letter from Adams? I know, I know: shrill. Sorry. But, honestly, it’s hard to tell just what journalists spend their time doing. That time certainly isn’t spent preparing.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the fact that here was a relatively small country that from a strictly military point of view accomplished incredible things. I mean, they took over most of Europe and Russia, and it really took the combined effort of the free world to defeat them. From a purely historical military point of view, that’s incredible.”
–Rich Iott (second from right), Tea Party and Republican nominee for Congress from Ohio’s 9th District, who likes to dress up in Waffen SS uniform and do Nazi re-enactments. Not just any re-enactments, but of one specific division, the 5th SS Panzer Division Wiking. Wonder if they re-enact this thrilling adventure of the 5th Panzers:
Members of the […] column, led by Obersturmführer Braunnagel and Untersturmführer Kochalty, assisted Einsatzgruppe A in rounding up Ukrainian Jews. Witnesses report that the Jewish victims were forced to run a gauntlet formed by soldiers who would beat them as they passed, and when they reached the end of the gauntlet, Einsatzgruppen officers murdered them and their bodies were pushed into a bomb crater.
Bound to be one of the more popular ones. But then, as we’re so frequently told, it’s irresponsible to associate the Tea Klanners with racism. Wouldn’t want to get shrill. This is just a grown man that likes to dress up like a Nazi and play war (crimes). Is that so wrong? Have the PC police finally come for the Nazis?
Hero
The hero of the Times Square bomb attempt was an immigrant. A Muslim. Senegalese newcomer Aliou Niasse was the first to notice the smoldering car and draw attention to it. He had no time left on his cell phone and realized his English probably wasn’t up to the task, so he got a passerby to call 911. In Arizona the cops would have hauled him off to jail while the car exploded.
I disagree. In Arizona, the guy would have never told anyone what he saw, specifically to avoid being “hauled off to jail while the car exploded.” He would simply have melted away into the crowd, never to be heard from at all. Then there would be lots of delayed retribution about “all these passersby” that didn’t do anything at all and much concern trolling about what is going wrong in the ‘Merican spirit.
Rest assured, though, that the wages of treating people like second-class shit and little more than domestic servants would never, ever come up. That would be shrill.
